Elon Musk's companies xAI and social network X have filed a lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Northern District of Texas against Apple Inc. and OpenAI, accusing them of collusion and unfair competition.
The lawsuit, filed by chatbot developer Grok and Platform X, alleges that Apple's integration of OpenAI's ChatGPT app into the iPhone operating system violates free competition and limits consumer choice.
The document also states that Apple and OpenAI jointly maintain a monopoly position in the smartphone and generative artificial intelligence markets.
Musk's companies also accuse Apple of manipulating app ratings in the App Store, specifically downgrading competing chatbots like Grok.
Earlier in August 2025, Elon Musk said that Apple was making it impossible for any AI app other than ChatGPT to reach number one in the App Store.
“Apple is creating an environment where no AI company other than OpenAI can top the App Store, which is a clear violation of antitrust laws,” Musk wrote on the X social network. He also said that xAI intends to immediately begin legal proceedings.
Earlier, Elon Musk's plan to conquer the Moon and Mars was hanging by a thread.
