The Egyptian authorities, amid the difficult situation in the Middle East, have decided to postpone the opening date of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, which is located near the Giza pyramids. This was announced by Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouly.
According to him, the current situation in the region is not conducive to holding such an important event as the opening of a museum. By the way, the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo was planned to open on July 3.
"Regional tensions may persist for several weeks. We believe it is right to postpone the date of this important event," the head of the Egyptian Cabinet said.
The Prime Minister did not name a new date for the opening of the museum. It will be announced later. However, experts believe that the opening of the museum will take place only in the fourth quarter of this year.
The Grand Egyptian Museum, which took more than 20 years to build, is conceived as the largest archaeological museum in the world dedicated to one civilization. According to the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities of Egypt, visitors will be able to see about 57 thousand artifacts there. The museum area is 500 thousand square meters.
Earlier it was reported that strange objects appeared over Egypt against the backdrop of strikes by Israel and Iran .
