Mushroom season has begun in central Russia: how to avoid poisoning

The mushroom picking season has begun in the forests of central Russia. Experts warn of the danger of poisoning and give recommendations on the safe picking and preparation of mushrooms. This is reported by Komsomolskaya Pravda.

According to expert Mikhail Lebedev, there are about 50 types of poisonous mushrooms in Russian forests. The most dangerous in the central zone are the death cap and some types of fly agarics. Children and people with poor health suffer especially severe poisoning.

The main symptoms of poisoning include:

- nausea, vomiting and diarrhea;

- stomach ache;

- in severe cases - disturbances in the functioning of the heart, nervous system, liver and kidneys.

At the first signs of poisoning it is necessary:

- Rinse the stomach (4-5 glasses of water followed by inducing vomiting);

- Give activated carbon or another sorbent;

-Call an ambulance;

- Save the remaining mushrooms for analysis.

An expert warns that even edible mushrooms can become dangerous if:

- they are collected near roads or industrial areas;

- mushrooms are old or overripe;

- they were stored for a long time after harvesting;

- are used together with alcohol.

"You should only pick young, strong mushrooms in ecologically clean places," advises Lebedev. "And it is better to buy mushrooms at official markets, where quality assessments are carried out."

Particular attention should be paid to the correct processing of conditionally edible mushrooms, which require soaking and repeated boiling. Wormy mushrooms, according to the expert, are safe, but require special processing.

If you follow these rules, the mushroom season will bring only pleasure and delicious dishes to your table.
