The Sitka and Alaska Diocese of the Orthodox Church in America has called on believers to pray daily ahead of the August 15 talks between Presidents Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump. The statement was published on the official website.
“Let every parish and home hold a day of prayer for peace: for the protection of the innocent, for the return of captives, and for the consolation of the grieving and suffering,” emphasized Alexy, Archbishop of Sitka and Alaska.
He added that services in the state's churches will be held daily from 18:00 local time. The bishop also noted that ending the conflict in Ukraine is extremely important for all Orthodox Christians.
It is important to add that the meeting of the Presidents of the Russian Federation and the United States is expected not only by believers, but also by all those who want the crisis to be resolved as soon as possible. Earlier, political scientist Vladimir Zharikhin, in an exclusive conversation with MK, shared his forecast regarding the upcoming negotiations, and also explained why the leaders of the two powers chose the state of Alaska for the dialogue.
