Viral on TikTok: Three appliances that can have an extra use

Anyone who browses TikTok will come across an exorbitant number of experiment videos. Some go wrong and are dangerous, but others seem, at least, capable of making daily life easier.
The Brazilian website Tech Tudo has gathered and explained some of the "extra" (and unusual) uses for household appliances that have gone viral on this social network and that seem to really work, without any risks.
Cooking a burger in the dishwasher
Content creator The Vulgar Chef shared a tip on TikTok and it went viral. In the video, he takes the meat out of its packaging, wraps it in aluminum foil, places it on the top rack of the machine and starts a full wash cycle (with dirty dishes thrown in). At the end, he opens the door, 'assembles' the burger and eats it, showing that — at least in theory — the method works.
The Brazilian publication explains that this can work because the dishwasher reaches temperatures between 60°C and 70°C, with constant steam and prolonged time, conditions similar to the 'sous vide' technique, which slowly cooks food at a low temperature and without direct contact with water.
However, it is important to remember that this appliance was not designed for this purpose and there is a risk of contamination, such as salmonella, as the meat may not reach a safe stage for consumption. In addition, there is a risk of contact with soap.
As Tech Tudo highlights, "it's better to use an air fryer, a microwave or a good old stove than to risk a burger that tastes like detergent or is poorly cooked."

Storing makeup (and super glue) in the fridge
This is a trend that has been around for some time and that really works, as shown in a video by NYX Cosmetics. The trick protects products from heat and offers a cooler application, and is already used by many people. However, there are some tips to keep in mind.
The products that work best in low temperatures are cosmetics with vitamin C, natural or sensitive formulas, which oxidize more quickly in heat. Perfumes also tend to last longer when stored out of direct light and away from heat sources.
Furthermore, it is ideal to have a mini-fridge dedicated to this type of product, or, if this is not possible, reserve a shelf in the fridge for this purpose (and away from the freezer).
In addition to makeup, as several internet users suggest, the refrigerator is the ideal place to store super glue, so that it doesn't dry out the first time you use it.

Boiled egg in an electric coffee maker
It's bizarre, but it can work, and influencer Happy Cook shows how on TikTok. Just put the raw eggs in the jar, fill it with water until it's covered, and heat it up, but without coffee. After a few minutes, with the water already hot, just discard the water and the eggs will come out cooked, with firm whites and a surprising result.
Tech Tudo points out that the device works, but with reservations, since not all coffee makers reach the right temperature to cook the food evenly, which can leave the yolk raw.
Furthermore, if the shell is chipped, the egg white may leak out and form crusts that are difficult to remove, compromising the use of the device.
There is also the possibility that this practice leaves odors and residues in the coffee maker that can interfere with the flavor of the coffee.
Therefore, as a one-off solution, it can be used safely, but it is not advisable to repeat it too often.
