Lawyer invents decisions with AI and client is fined by the court

The Fourth Panel of the Regional Labor Court of the 2nd Region decided to fine the author of a lawsuit whose lawyer listed false precedents, created by artificial intelligence , in an appeal.
The fine imposed is just over R$6,200, equivalent to 5% of the value of the labor dispute. The Court published its ruling on September 3.
The lawyer listed non-existent judgment summaries in order to convince the TRT-2 that other courts had issued decisions based on the same arguments presented in the appeal.
The judges also identified references to false decisions allegedly signed by ministers of the Superior Labor Court, in addition to a ruling attributed to a judge who, contrary to what the appeal states, is not even at the TRT-3.
“The claimant, in seeking to convince the judges with non-existent judgments, clearly invented to fit like 'gloves' to her desires, acted recklessly in the process, altering the truth “, argued the rapporteur João Forte Júnior.
