The Seia Municipal Civil Protection Emergency Plan was deactivated on Monday night, announced this Tuesday the Guarda district council, which was hit by the fire that started on the 13th in Arganil.
"The measure is due to the worsening of the situation in the municipality, the reduction of the risk to people and property, and the progressive restoration of normality," the municipality said in a note published on social media.
This fire in Seia lasted practically until Sunday, although it was initially contained on Friday. On Saturday, small rekindlings required increased attention, but by Sunday the risk was practically minimal.
The fire that broke out in Arganil on the 13th represents the largest burnt area ever in Portugal, with 64 thousand hectares consumed, according to the provisional report from the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF).
The fire that started in Piódão, in the municipality of Arganil (Coimbra district), and which was resolved on Sunday, after 11 days, has a burnt area of 64,451 hectares, according to the provisional national report of the Forest Fire Information Management System (SGIF) of the ICNF, to which the Lusa agency had access.
The report, with the latest update on the area burned made on Sunday, confirms that this fire represents the largest area burned ever in Portugal since records began, surpassing the previous record of the fire that started in Vilarinho, in the municipality of Lousã, in October 2017, which had reached 53 thousand hectares.
