FCT Mobility releases the provisional results of the third evaluation phase

The Foundation for Science and Technology (FCT) has published the provisional results of the third evaluation phase of the FCT Mobility program. Fifty-one applications were submitted for funding, out of a total of 55 eligible, corresponding to approximately €270,000 in funding for international researcher mobility.
This third evaluation phase included applications submitted between March 11 and May 10, 2025. The program has already received a total of 254 applications, of which 197 were approved (a 78% approval rate). The total funding awarded is €1,234,651.50.
Of the 197 researchers undergoing international mobility under this program, 63 come from countries outside Europe (Brazil, Mexico, Australia, China, and the USA), but also from European countries ( Italy , Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and Ireland). Under the outgoing program, 134 Portuguese researchers are moving, mostly to European Union countries (Ireland, Italy, Iceland, Switzerland, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, Poland, Germany, France, Austria, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Croatia, and Romania), and less than a third to countries outside Europe (the USA, China, Brazil, Chile, Canada, Argentina, South Africa, Mexico, Vietnam, Mozambique, and Angola).
The FCT Mobility program finances medium- and long-term stays for national PhD researchers in foreign institutions and for foreign PhD researchers in national institutions, with a view to carrying out research activities and/or fieldwork.
The program, which has an allocation of 5 million euros in funds from the Recovery and Resilience Plan – PRR ( Measure RE-C06-i06 – Science Plus Training ), supports two types of mobility:
- FCT Mobility outgoing , which supports the stay of national researchers in foreign institutions, between 2 and 11 consecutive months;
- FCT Mobility Incoming , designed to welcome researchers affiliated with foreign institutions to Portugal to conduct joint scientific activities. The mobility period should last between one and three consecutive months.
The program is open permanently and applications can be submitted until December 31, 2025, for mobility starting until March 31, 2026.
