CP train bar workers on strike

Workers at bars on CP — Comboios de Portugal's long-distance trains will be on strike from this Friday until Sunday, accusing ITAU, the company that operates the service, of failing to comply with the company's revised agreement.
“FESAHT [Federation of Unions of Agriculture, Food, Beverage, Hotel and Tourism Workers of Portugal] and the unions have been engaged from the beginning in negotiations with the company ITAU to find a solution that would not represent the loss of rights and income, so the workers decided in plenary session to go on strike on the first two days of the start of the work shift on July 11, 12 and 13, 2025”, reads a note from the federation, released this Wednesday.
The union federation accuses the company of not wanting to comply with the review of the company's 2025 agreement, signed with the previous concessionaire.
At issue are, for example, work shifts that respect the eight-hour daily and 35-hour weekly workload, payment for work on Saturdays and Sundays with a 25% increase, as well as a daily meal allowance of 11.50 euros, responsibility bonuses, transport allowance and the payment of daily allowances worth 20 euros each.
FESAHT also reported that the company, after receiving strike notice, sent emails and letters to workers "wanting to impose proportionality on the strike and threatening workers with unjustified absences, the remaining hours of their shift, and disciplinary proceedings."
