China to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 7% to 10% by 2035

China will reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by between 7% and 10% by 2035, Chinese President Xi Jinping announced to the UN General Assembly on Wednesday (24).
In a video, Xi previewed China's new commitments to combat climate change, after US President Donald Trump called the phenomenon that threatens the planet a "hoax."
Xi's announcement also contrasts with the European Union's struggles to present a unified front to renew its climate commitments, just weeks before the United Nations' international conference on the issue, COP30, in Belém, Pará.
