  • The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) today placed 12 districts on the mainland under an orange warning, the second most serious, due to the heat, most of which will last until the end of Tuesday.

    According to the IPMA, the orange warning will be in effect until 6:00 pm on Tuesday in Vila Real, Castelo Branco, Santarém and Lisbon, due to the persistence of very high maximum temperatures, extending until 11:00 pm in the district of Viseu.

    In the districts of Bragança, Guarda, Portalegre, Évora, Beja, Setúbal and Faro, it remains active until midnight on Tuesday.

    The districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra and Leiria are under a yellow warning, the least serious of a scale of three, until 6 pm on Tuesday.

  • Around 120 municipalities in the interior north and center of the country and the Algarve region are currently at maximum risk of fire, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA).

    All municipalities in the districts of Bragança and Guarda and most of those in Viseu and Castelo Branco are at maximum risk of fire.

    Also at maximum risk are dozens of municipalities in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria, Santarém, Portalegre and Faro.

    Around 50 municipalities in the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Vila Real, Aveiro, Coimbra, Viseu, Leiria, Lisbon, Castelo Branco, Portalegre, Beja and Faro are at very high risk.

    The IPMA has placed almost the entire Alentejo region and around 30 other municipalities in the districts of Faro, Lisbon, Setúbal, Coimbra, Leiria, Aveiro, Porto and Braga at high risk.

    Dozens of municipalities are at moderate risk, almost all on the country's coast, in the districts of Lisbon, Aveiro and Porto.

  • The three fires that are currently considered significant are those in Trancoso, Tabuaço and Covilhã.

    In Trancoso there are 569 operators with 197 land resources.

    In Covilhã there are 406 operational and 128 land resources.

    In Tabuaço, there are 72 operators with 21 land resources.

    These three fires mobilize more than a thousand operatives at this time of the morning.

  • The fire in Sirarelhos, Vila Real, entered the resolution phase during the early hours of this Monday.

    According to the Civil Protection website, 357 operators remain on the ground with 119 land resources.

    The fire started on August 2nd.
