See celebrities who attended Preta Gil's seventh-day mass

Singer Preta Gil's seventh-day mass brought together family, close friends and several personalities on Monday night (28), at the Santa Mônica Parish, located in the Leblon neighborhood, in Rio de Janeiro. The ceremony was marked by emotion and tributes to the artist, who passed away on Saturday (20), at the age of 50, a victim of colorectal cancer.
The singer was diagnosed in January 2023, underwent long-term surgery, and went into remission at the end of the same year. However, the disease returned aggressively in 2024, leading her to seek experimental treatment in the United States, where she died in New York. Her body was transferred to Brazil, with the wake taking place at the Municipal Theater in Rio de Janeiro on Friday (July 25), followed by a cremation in a ceremony restricted to family and friends.
Among those present at the mass were figures such as Fernanda Montenegro , Carolina Dieckmann, Marcelo Serrado, Glória Perez, Malu Mader, Cris Vianna, and Cissa Guimarães. Also present were ex-husband Otávio Muller and the singer's son, Francisco Gil. Gilberto Gil, the singer's father, attended the ceremony and, visibly moved, spoke to the press about the loss of his daughter.
At another point, the musician reinforced the relevance of the singer's memory in difficult times. "What is most pronounced in the grief of her loss is the fact that she suffered immensely. Her memory has a wide circulation, it is a constant source of comfort, a counterpoint to these difficulties in expressing affection that the world is experiencing lately. Her passing has contributed to our being more loving and affectionate," he concluded.
In fact, since her diagnosis, Preta Gil has openly shared her journey, becoming a symbol of courage and positivity. In August 2024, she announced she was returning to treatment due to a recurrence of cancer in pelvic lymph nodes. Later, in December of the same year, she underwent another surgery that lasted more than 20 hours and required a 55-day hospital stay.
The singer, daughter of Gilberto Gil and Sandra Gadelha, leaves behind an artistic and emotional legacy marked by authenticity. She was the mother of Francisco Gil and grandmother of Sol de Maria. Her farewell address, both at the wake and at the Mass, reflected the affection and importance of her journey to music and Brazilian culture.
