A new controversy has once again put the name of Ruth Moreira , mother of Marília Mendonça , in the spotlight. In a video released on YouTube, journalist Ricardo Feltrin revealed previously unknown details about the financial backstage of the plane crash that killed the singer and four other people in November 2021. The revelation caused a stir on social media , especially among the families of the other victims.

According to Feltrin, each passenger on the flight, chartered by a private company, had insurance worth US$200,000 (approximately R$1.1 million at the current exchange rate). The total sum of US$1 million (R$5.5 million) should have been divided equally between the families of the five occupants of the aircraft.
However, according to the journalist, Ruth had demanded to keep 50% of the amount, arguing that "everyone was there because of Marília", justifying a higher amount for the artist.
Sources close to the family of Henrique Ribeiro , known as Henrique Bahia, a producer from Marília and one of the victims of the tragedy, confirmed to the Bahia Notícias portal that the proposal was made and that the other family members had accepted under duress. According to the report, Ruth had said that if they did not agree, she would go to court and could delay the payment of compensation.
