Fires. More than 100 municipalities in 12 districts at maximum risk

More than 100 municipalities in the districts of Bragança, Porto, Braga, Vila Real, Aveiro, Viseu, Coimbra, Guarda, Portalegre, Santarém, Castelo Branco and Faro are at maximum risk of rural fires this Tuesday, according to the IPMA.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) has also placed almost all municipalities in the 18 districts at very high and high risk. According to the institute's calculations, the danger of rural fires will remain high in the coming days in some districts .
This danger, determined by the IPMA, has five levels, ranging from low to high. The calculations are obtained from air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and amount of precipitation in the last 24 hours.
According to the website of the Institute for Nature Conservation and Forests (ICNF), since the beginning of the year and up until this Tuesday there have been 2,999 fire incidents, with 8,278 hectares of rural areas having burned.
Due to the hot weather, IPMA placed the districts of Évora, Guarda, Beja, Castelo Branco and Portalegre under yellow warning until 6 pm this Tuesday and Bragança and Vila Real until 9 pm on Wednesday.
The yellow warning, the least serious, is issued by IPMA when there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the meteorological situation.
The IPMA forecasts for this Tuesday on the mainland partly cloudy or clear skies, light to moderate winds and a rise in maximum temperatures on the North and Central coast and a slight drop in the Algarve.
Minimum temperatures will range between 13 degrees Celsius (in Bragança) and 24 (in Portalegre) and maximum temperatures between 29 (in Faro) and 39 (in Évora and Beja).
