Find out the story behind 'Três Graças', Globo's next soap opera

TV Globo's upcoming 9 p.m. (Brasília time) soap opera, Três Graças, will mark Aguinaldo Silva's return to primetime after a six-year absence. The production will replace Vale Tudo on the network's schedule and will feature a narrative centered on Brazilian social reality, combining drama, mystery, romance, and touches of humor, under the artistic direction of Luiz Henrique Rios.
Set in a fictional community in the northern zone of São Paulo, the telenovela's central character is Gerluce Maria das Graças, played by Sophie Charlotte. She lives with her mother, Lígia (Dira Paes), and her daughter, Joélly (Alana Cabral), forming three generations of women who faced early pregnancies and gave up their plans for motherhood. Gerluce's main challenge will be to break this cycle and ensure that her daughter doesn't abandon her dreams in the face of another early pregnancy.
However, the protagonist's routine becomes complicated when, working as a caregiver for an elderly woman, Josefa (Arlete Salles), she discovers that her boss, Arminda (Grazi Massafera), and her lover, Santiago Ferette (Murilo Benício), are running a counterfeit drug scheme. This revelation places her in the midst of ethical and moral dilemmas that will have a direct impact on her life and that of her community.
In addition to the main cast, the cast includes Romulo Estrela, Marcos Palmeira, Andréia Horta, Miguel Falabella, Gabriela Medvedovski, Alanis Guillen, Juliana Alves, and others. Filming is already taking place in several São Paulo neighborhoods, such as Brasilândia, Pinheiros, Aclimação, and Freguesia do Ó, reinforcing the plot's urban setting.
The author explained his proposal when returning to the popular format: "My idea, in 'Três Graças', is to make a popular and comprehensive soap opera, which talks about people's daily lives, of those who leave at 5 am and take three buses to go to work."
In another statement, he highlighted the protagonist's role: "Gerluce is a woman who fights to not lose hope. She wants a better life for her daughter, she doesn't know how she will achieve this, but it is her main goal."
According to director Luiz Henrique Rios, the tone of the work will be marked by intensity: "We're going to work with a tone that's a little above reality. The soap opera has a lot of color and a lot of vibration, it's an intense story, on the surface."
Scheduled to premiere in October, Três Graças aims to provoke reflections on social inequality, ethics and motherhood, without leaving aside the emotion and entertainment characteristic of the channel's prime time.
