Juliana Paes paid an emotional tribute to singer Preta Gil , who died last Sunday (20) , at the age of 50, due to cancer. In a statement, the actress spoke about the affectionate relationship she built with the artist over the years and recalled the affectionate way they exchanged nicknames. The actress also shared the feeling she had hours before the singer's death was announced , on Friend's Day.
"I was never close to Preta... We're not childhood friends, we weren't raised close, we weren't best friends as young people -- I'm from Nikiti, right?", said Juliana, referring to the city of Niterói, where she was born, while Preta lived most of her childhood and adolescence in the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
Despite the geographical distance and not being part of the singer's closest circle, Juliana emphasized that she always had a genuine affection for her. "I liked her from the first time I spoke to her. And I liked her more every time I saw her, every time I went to see her show at The Week. I went maaaaany times... She called me 'Old lady,' and I affectionately called her back... Every time we saw each other, with children or not, it was always 'Old lady' here, 'Old lady' there, and laughter, laughter, and 'Old lady, you crazy girl!' (laughs)."
