The Minister of Health, Ana Paula Martins, today admitted the possibility of returning to the Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) model in some health units, but without specifying.
In statements to the parliamentary health committee, Ana Paula Martins also admitted that, in the oncology area, if there is a time when the NHS is unable to respond, some certified entities in the private sector can do so.
Regarding the management model in the National Health Service (SNS), the minister had already revealed this morning that the Government is studying the best management mechanisms to increase the efficiency of the SNS, which it will present soon.
Still on the subject of PPP management, the minister gave the example of the Fernando da Fonseca Hospital (Amadora-Sintra), stating that, since it stopped being a PPP, “it has never gotten back on its feet”.
“That one and the others,” he added.
