Silence 4 celebrate 30 years since the band's birth with a concert in Leiria

In conclusion, the musician considered that the band is back in shape:

“We are very ready for these concerts. I will even go further: I think we have never played as well as we are playing now.”

On the nine official dates planned to celebrate the band's 30th anniversary, Silence 4 will play their first album, “Silence becomes it”, in its entirety, with “some surprises in between”.

The set of performances that begins today in Leiria aims to celebrate 30 years of the band that left its mark on national music, reaching 240 thousand records sold with their debut album, “Silence becomes it” (1998), one of the most sought after albums ever in Portugal.

Silence 4 released a second album, “Only Pain Is Real” (2000), recorded in London, UK. In total, with just these two releases, the band sold more than 300,000 copies.

Among the band's biggest hits are songs like "Borrow", "My friends", "To give" and "Only pain is real", along with the acoustic version of "A little respect" by Erasure, which launched Silence 4 in the 1990s.

Shortly after two concerts in the coliseums of Lisbon and Porto, in 2001, which gave rise to a CD and DVD edition, the group suspended its activity, claiming saturation.

In 2003, bassist Rui Costa left the group and David Fonseca began his solo career with his first original album, "Sing me something new".

Sofia Lisboa has participated in several musical projects, such as Ellas, with Raquel Ralha, and drummer Tozé Pedrosa has dedicated himself to teaching. In recent years, Rui Costa has been part of projects such as Filarmónica Gil, A Caruma and Companhia do Canto Popular.

This is the second return of Silence 4, who in 2014, after more than a decade of hiatus, performed a series of five shows. Ten years ago, the occasion served to mark the recovery of singer Sofia Lisboa from leukemia, and to celebrate past hits.
