Music producer Luís Jardim has died

Music producer Luís Jardim passed away this Friday, on the day he turned 75.
Born in Madeira, the producer was part of the group Demónios Negros in the 60s and it was in England that he established himself as a studio percussionist.
In that country he worked with Elton John, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, Grace Jones, among others. He toured with Tina Turner and George Michael, among others. In Portugal he produced albums for names such as Rui Veloso and was involved in the career of João Pedro Pais.
“It is with deep sadness that I say goodbye to my dear friend Luís Jardim. Born in Madeira, Luís was much more than a brilliant musician and music producer, he was a generous, talented and inspiring person”, wrote the President of the Government of Madeira, on his Facebook page.
“I had the privilege of sharing moments with him, and I saw first-hand the impact he left on the world of music, both in Portugal and abroad,” added Miguel Albuquerque.
“Luís now lives on in the melodies he left us and in the memories that I cherish with immense gratitude. He is gone, but he will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace,” it reads further,
Alberto João Jardim also left a message about the death of Luís Jardim.
“My cousin, Luís Alberto Gonçalves Jardim, has passed away. Musician (“Demónios Negros”, remember?) and businessman, in his London studio he recorded great “Estrelas”, including “Beatles”, he wrote on Twitter.
“Always an entrepreneur, life brought him back to Madeira, where he lived for a while and, with his talent, he even helped me in PSD/Madeira campaigns. We were good friends since childhood. When he was younger, he now lived in mainland Portugal,” he added.
“His appearances on Portuguese television programs were memorable for his humor and proactivity. See you soon, Luís!” he concluded.
