Hip Hop Culture Museum RS hosts unprecedented action from the Museu da Pessoa on climate change

The Hip Hop Culture Museum RS, in Porto Alegre, is hosting an unprecedented event that combines art, memory and environmental awareness. Until July 6, the program "Lives, Voices and Knowledge in a World on Fire", promoted by the Museu da Pessoa, offers the public workshops and an interactive space for personal accounts of the impacts of climate change.
Curated by writer, philosopher and indigenous leader Ailton Krenak, the initiative is part of a series of actions organized in eight regions of the country and features the Manto Cabin in Rio Grande do Sul — an interactive structure set up to record, in up to three minutes, the population's experiences and memories about the climate and its consequences. These accounts will be part of a permanent collection on the Museu da Pessoa platform.
Another highlight of the program is the collective production of a cloak made from recycled waste. The piece, made by hands from different parts of Brazil, will be exhibited in Belém (PA) during the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP 30), in November.
The choice of Rio Grande do Sul as one of the hubs of this program is symbolic. The state was hit hard by one of the country's biggest climate tragedies in 2024, and now transforms this pain into reflection and art.
The activities take place at the Museu da Cultura Hip Hop RS, located at Rua Parque dos Nativos, 545, in Vila Ipiranga, Porto Alegre. The space is open from Tuesday to Saturday, from 9 am to 12 pm and from 2 pm to 5 pm. Participation is free.
