Experiences from the Middle Ages once again invade «Salir no Tempo»

Experiences from the Middle Ages once again invade «Salir no Tempo»

The village of Salir takes a trip to the past in another edition of «Salir no Tempo», between the 18th and 20th of July.

With several editions held, this event has secured a prominent place as one of the most emblematic historical recreations in the south of the country, where visitors and residents are invited to delve into the deep roots of this town in the municipality of Loulé.

In the Middle Ages, Salir was a stronghold of the Christian Reconquest from the Moors; in this sense, this event has a touch of authenticity, with knights and squires, artisans and merchants, troubadours and snake charmers and dancers, in the town's narrow, cobbled streets.

A strategic point during the Reconquista period, when the transition from Muslim to Christian rule gave rise to the most varied displays of force, Salir also experienced moments interspersed with constant attempts to normalize everyday life, in which the Arts played an important role in the society of the time.

This is the atmosphere that visitors will find here these days.

In this step-back experience, music, dance, and cuisine combine with fire-breathing, falconry, medieval tournaments, and the representation of various characters, providing moments of interaction with spectators and creating a magical atmosphere.

Visitors will have the opportunity to be the protagonist of their own story, dressing up in one of the costumes that can be rented at the "Salir no Tempo" store.

The objectives of this initiative are to promote awareness of the historical importance of the territory and contribute to the tourist and cultural development of the municipality of Loulé, through the promotion of its tangible and intangible heritage and its educational function.

«Salir no Tempo» is an organization of the Municipality of Loulé , with the collaboration of the Parish Council of Salir .

Doors open at 7pm, and tickets cost three euros (for one day) and five euros (for three days).
