EcoAventura brings together hundreds of families in support of the environment

EcoAventura brings together hundreds of families in support of the environment

With a comprehensive program that combines education, art and science, the event aims to establish itself as a space for direct contact with good environmental practices. This Saturday, one of the highlights of the initiative, with the CMIA – Municipal Center for Environmental Interpretation opening its doors all day, alongside multiple activities spread throughout the city. The Itinerant Municipal Library circulated between the EcoAventura spaces, while ceramics workshops, birdwatching, storytelling, yoga and showcookings attracted participants of all ages.

Recycling was the highlight of Saturday

Also worthy of note were the ReciclAÇÃO workshops, organised by the company Veolia, which provided an entertaining way of introducing the process of recycling plastic and reusing waste. In an interview with Diário de Aveiro, André Duarte, from Veolia's communications team, explained the purpose of the activity. "This year, our focus was on the reuse and recovery of waste, especially plastic and organic waste. We brought practical examples, games, workshops and accessible explanations so that families understand that waste can and should be seen as a resource", he highlights.

In addition to the activities promoted by Veolia, other entities joined in the spirit of the initiative, such as the Mar de Experiências movement, which organized games and “upcycling” workshops with waste collected on the beaches.

Activities take place today throughout the day

For the Veolia manager, the feedback has been very positive. “Families have joined in with curiosity and interest. This shows that the community is increasingly receptive to changing habits and embracing a new vision of waste,” he highlighted. The day also included mindfulness sessions for the little ones, shows culminating in a magical moment of nighttime astronomy at CMIA. The EcoAventura ends today, with a new focus: home composting, through two workshops on different composting methods – including for those who live in apartments.

Throughout the week, hundreds of school children participated in educational activities, and at the weekend, it was the families' turn to embrace the environmental cause in a practical and fun way.
