Ultra-rare 1997 Porsche to go under the hammer. Unfinished car worth a fortune

Ultra-rare 1997 Porsche to go under the hammer. Unfinished car worth a fortune

Do you love Porsche? We have some good news. An extremely rare 911 GT2 R model from the 993 generation will soon be up for auction and is sure to attract the attention of many collectors. They just need to pay attention to one detail...

The Porsche 911 GT2 R model presented by the famous auction house RM Sotheby’s is indeed unique, because only ten such vehicles were produced in 1997.

The Glacier White car went to Dutch driver René Snel , who raced it until August 1999. The reason for "ending cooperation"? The machine was crashed during a race in Assen .

The damaged hull was rebuilt and in 2001 the car returned to the track, but this time behind the wheel was Klaus Abbelen , the Euro GT Series champion from Tönisvorst in Germany . Abbelen entered the GT2 R in numerous club races at tracks such as the Nürburgring , Hockenheim and Monza .

3 million for an unfinished Porsche

What happened next with the vehicle? In 2014, it was purchased by The Stuttgart Legends Collection . In 2017, another restoration began, which included welding in a new front chassis structure . However, the restoration of the famous car was never completed.

Today the GT2 R is offered for sale in an unfinished state.

- Please note: the car is sold based on its production number, without a chassis number and without any claims to previous identity. The Porsche is also equipped with an engine of unknown type and origin - the auction house clearly emphasizes.

Despite this, experts expect that the new buyer will have to pay a lot for this 911. The estimated price is from 550 to even 800 thousand dollars, or over three million zlotys . And who knows, maybe collectors will be more interested…

Buy a Porsche and... fix it yourself

The auction house's offer is therefore aimed more at those who will have the necessary funds and will be willing to devote their time to rebuilding the vehicle. Especially since it still has considerable racing and collecting potential.

RM Sotheby’s encourages you to contact us for a detailed breakdown of the work required to complete the vehicle.
