A unique event on a European island. Reservations are already open for 2026.

This holiday season in Mallorca hasn't been particularly successful. However, hoteliers can already see bookings for next year appearing in their system. The reason for the interest in these distant dates is a spectacular phenomenon that can be observed directly from the beaches on the Spanish island. The total solar eclipse will coincide with the evening sunset. "Google searches for 'Mallorca 2026' have increased by 149 percent over the past month," writes the Travel and Tour World blog.
Solar eclipse in MallorcaOn August 12, 2026, a total solar eclipse will take place over Europe. Residents of the Old Continent have been waiting for this unique event for twenty-seven years – it's no wonder the interest is so intense. The exact "route" of the phenomenon is already known: it will begin at sunrise on the Taimyr Peninsula in Russia, then travel across the Arctic Ocean to eastern Greenland. Afterward, the total eclipse will be visible in western Iceland, followed by Spain and the Bragança region in Portugal. The grand finale of the spectacle awaits astronomy enthusiasts in Mallorca at 8:49 PM, just after sunset.
Places are filling up quicklyHotels and rental properties across the island are starting to fill up, even though the eclipse is still twelve months away. Available spaces could quickly dwindle, so tourists are encouraged to book accommodations as soon as possible. "Travel agencies have reported a 20 percent increase in bookings in Mallorca for the 2026 long weekend, and many of the island's top hotels are already fully booked," the report reads.
Those who don't manage to secure a stay in Mallorca can take an eclipse tour to other parts of Spain. The phenomenon will be visible earlier in the day in cities such as Santander, Bilbao, and Zaragoza.
