Electroradiology will be a new major at the Medical Faculty of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The university intends to accept 60 students for the first year of studies, who will be able to obtain the title of engineer in this field. Recruitment will start on June 1 of this year.
In a statement sent on Monday, Wrocław University of Science and Technology announced that recruitment for the new field of study will begin on June 1, 2025. It is planned to accept 60 students for the first year.
"Electroradiology is considered one of the professions of the future. It is already offered by several Polish universities, but only here does its completion guarantee obtaining the title of engineer. It is something unique and a great asset on the job market," said the vice-dean for student affairs and didactics at the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Eng. Iwona Hołowacz, quoted in the university's press release.
The electroradiologist is responsible for the correct performance of diagnostic tests, which is often crucial for further medical decisions regarding the treatment of the patient. This profession requires precision, knowledge and the ability to operate technologically advanced equipment.
"Electroradiologists deal with the latest achievements in the field of imaging diagnostics and various forms of treatment, which makes their work dynamic, full of challenges and allows for continuous development. And with the growing number of chronic and civilization diseases, the demand for good quality imaging diagnostics increases," added Prof. Hołowacz.
The university announced that classes in the new major will be conducted in modern, well-equipped laboratories with the necessary equipment, and internships in specialist hospitals and diagnostic centers cooperating with the university in Wrocław and Lower Silesia. "There will be no shortage of training in the University of Technology's Medical Simulation Center, one of the most modern laboratories of this type in Poland," it was written in the announcement.
Graduates will gain practical skills in the use of modern diagnostic techniques, such as computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, and digital radiography. The curriculum also includes classes in the use of artificial intelligence in the analysis and processing of medical images.
In total, there are 60 vacancies in the electroradiology major at the Medical Faculty of the Wrocław University of Science and Technology. The studies will be conducted in cooperation with the Faculty of Fundamental Problems of Technology, in particular with the Department of Biomedical Engineering. (PAP)
