David Bowie's Favorite Song List Revealed, Available for Viewing in a Special Venue

In May, London's Victoria and Albert Museum opened the V&A East Storehouse, which will house, among other things, the David Bowie Centre. This is the new permanent home for Bowie's archive. The exhibition dedicated to the musician, which runs from September 13th, includes a note from him revealing his favorite songs.
David Bowie wrote this note for a radio broadcast. He listed his favorite recordings on the note. The list demonstrates the breadth and eclectic nature of his influences. His choices included classical music (Richard Strauss's "Four Last Songs"), rock & roll (Little Richard's "True Fine Mama"), jazz (Miles Davis's "Someday My Prince Will Come"), glam rock (Roxy Music's "Mother of Pearl"), and psychedelic pieces (The Beatles' "Across the Universe").
Archivists researching Bowie's legacy also discovered notes relating to a previously unheard-of project. It turned out that Bowie, in the final months of his life, was working on a musical set in the 18th century, titled "The Spectator."
In total, the V&A East Storehouse houses over 90,000 objects related to the artist. The exhibition centers on the singer's most famous outfits, lyrics, and musical instruments. Visitors will also be able to better understand Bowie's creative process. "At the V&A East Storehouse, visitors can get closer to David Bowie than ever before," the museum states.
"By having David's life's work become part of the British national collection, he takes his rightful place alongside many other cultural icons. The David Bowie Centre for the Study of Performance means that David's work can be shared with the public in a way that was not previously possible, and we are delighted to be working closely with the V&A to continue to commemorate his lasting cultural impact," said a spokesperson for the company managing Bowie's estate.
The V&A East Storehouse is located in London's Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park . It also houses the Glastonbury Festival archives and Elton John's costumes, among other exhibits.
