On the night from Tuesday to Wednesday, a flying object fell and exploded in a corn field near the village of Osiny in Łuków County in the Lublin region.

District Prosecutor in Lublin, Grzegorz Trusiewicz, said during a briefing in Osiny that an expert from the Military Institute of Armament Technology in Zielonka arrived at the scene to help determine the type of device found.

The preliminary opinion shows that the scale of the destruction of the explosive device is so large that we are unable to precisely and unequivocally determine where the drone comes from and what type of production it is.

According to Trusiewicz, the debris collected at the scene indicates that a large military drone crashed in Osiny. He noted that only after all the device's components have been collected and examined by experts will it be possible to determine the exact size, weight, and mass of the explosive.

The prosecutor announced that an examination of the crime scene will be conducted on Wednesday, as long as the weather permits and there is light. He announced that the search will continue on Thursday.

Investigators, he said, collected a significant amount of evidence and interviewed approximately 10 people. He appealed to residents who have information about the incident or footage of it to contact the police or military police.

He reported that the services were searching for drone debris in an area of approximately 2-3 hectares. At the critical moment, the prosecutor added, up to 150 people were involved in the operation, including police, military police, fire department, and Territorial Defense Force soldiers.

Trusiewicz reported that the drone crash damaged doorframes, roof slopes, and shattered window panes in nearby buildings. This involved two houses, one located several dozen meters away and the other approximately 150 meters from the scene.

The Lublin Voivodeship Office on Wednesday assured financial support for owners of damaged buildings that were hit by a drone explosion. On Thursday, staff from the Lublin Voivodeship Office's Social Policy Department are scheduled to visit the site to assess the needs of the affected residents.

After collecting reports on this matter, the Lublin Voivode will decide on financial support. This involves targeted benefits totaling approximately PLN 8,000. The scope of this assistance will be assessed only after tomorrow's on-site visit.
