Fans have been begging Netflix for years to continue this series. Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel

Fans have been begging Netflix for years to continue this series. Finally, there is light at the end of the tunnel

Fans of the Mindhunter series who have already given up hope for its continuation can count on it being made. The series star, Holt McCallany, revealed that there is a possibility of making three two-hour films continuing the story of the pioneers of criminal profiling techniques.

Based on the true story of profiling pioneer John E. Douglas , Mindhunter is one of Netflix’s best shows, if you’re going by viewer ratings. Created by David Fincher, the series follows the FBI agents who laid the foundation for one of the most effective crime-prevention techniques in use today.

Despite great reviews, Mindhunter's two-season run was not a success. Its production was labor-intensive and demanding, which meant that the high budget and commitment of the creators and cast did not match the financial benefits for Netflix.

The fatigue of the artists involved in the production was also not without significance. All of this contributed to the suspension of work on the third season. It was not officially canceled, but the actors were released from their contracts. The involvement of fans in the revival of the production did not help and it seemed that everyone had forgotten about the series. Meanwhile, in the latest interview, Holt McCallany sheds new light on the matter.

- A few months ago I met with David Fincher in his office. He told me that there was a chance that we would come back with three two-hour films. But I think it's just a chance. I know that the writers are working on the scripts, but as you know, David would have to be happy with them - says the star of the series "Mindhunter" in an interview with the CBR portal.

Later in the interview, the actor explained how difficult it was to please Fincher in terms of the quality of the script.

"I recently wrote a script and David was kind enough to review it and give me his advice. I've been revising it for two and a half years. He's very meticulous, which is why he's one of the best directors in Hollywood. So he's given me some hope for a sequel to Mindhunter, but the sun, moon and stars have to align for that to happen," he says.
