Szczecin psychologist and pianist Aleksandra Sławińska gave a concert at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York. In the project "The Beauty of Chopin" she was supported by her cousin, painter Jack Laroux.
The presentation included a lecture on the psychology of music and a piano recital by Aleksandra Sławińska, as well as a presentation of paintings by Jacek Laroux. Each of the three elements corresponded with the figure of Fryderyk Chopin. The artist also spoke about how the music of the Polish composer influences the spiritual condition of modern man.
- Being able to play Chopin in such a poetic place as New York, where I lived as a little girl, is something completely unique, like a beautiful fairy tale that you don't have to imagine, because it really happened - says Aleksandra Sławińska. - Being in New York always brings me great joy, but I admit that this time, the colorful lights of the crowded streets of Manhattan enchanted my heart even more, and the performance itself gave me great pleasure, which Maslow would describe as a typical "peak experience". The event also featured paintings by my cousin Jacek, and among them, for the first time, a painting entitled "Chopin", which delights with its originality.
The event was held at the Consulate General of the Republic of Poland in New York at 233 Madison Avenue in Manhattan. It was opened by Consul General Mateusz Sakowicz and hosted by Vice Consul Mateusz Dębowicz. It was attended by approximately 140 people.
Both Aleksandra Sławińska and Jack Laroux are citizens of Poland and the USA, and both declare that Polish patriotism is extremely close to their hearts, which is why they are planning further joint artistic activities promoting Polish culture.
