Just as submissions for the 2025 Nikon Comedy Wildlife Awards close, a selection of the most iconic, hilarious, and striking images so far has been revealed. This year, they received more than a thousand submissions from photographers around the world, capturing the most comical side of the animal kingdom.
This group of eye-catching images seeks to encourage more photographers—both amateur and professional—to participate before June 30. Among the images published are a tiny dragon that appears to be waving at the camera, a rhinoceros with the demeanor of a model, and a pair of mudskippers that appear to be performing a duet worthy of the stage, according to the NatGeo website. Photographers can enter the following categories: mammals, birds, reptiles and insects, aquatic species , as well as web portfolios and videos. There will also be specific prizes for young and junior photographers. Winners will be selected by experts and renowned figures in the world of photography.
