American tourist who traveled to Puerto Rico for Bad Bunny concert shot dead

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — An American tourist visiting Puerto Rico for Bad Bunny's residency was shot and killed early Sunday in La Perla, a popular coastal neighborhood, police said.
The victim was identified as Kevin Mares, a 25-year-old man who lived in New York, according to a police statement.
The shooting occurred early in the morning at a nightclub called “Shelter for Battered Men” in La Perla, a coastal community that has struggled to shake off its dark reputation.
Homicide Detective Sergeant Arnaldo Ruiz stated in a telephone interview that the shooting occurred when several people near Mares began arguing, and one of them pulled out a gun and shot at least three people, including Mares. Two other men from La Perla were wounded and remain hospitalized.
Ruiz claimed Mares was an innocent bystander. The victim was with three other friends who told police they were in Puerto Rico to attend one of Bad Bunny's 30 concerts, which have attracted tens of thousands of visitors to the U.S. territory.
