The TEPJF (July 1st Judiciary) rejects the PAN's attempt to invalidate the results of the judicial elections.

MEXICO CITY (apro).- The Electoral Tribunal of the Federal Judicial Branch (TEPJF) today rejected an attempt by the National Action Party (PAN) to invalidate the results of the judicial elections held on June 1st for the magistrates of the TEPJF's Regional Chambers, considering that the party "lacks the legitimacy" to question the electoral process.
This resolution, voted unanimously, predicts a series of defeats for the blue and white party, which filed challenges before the TEPJF (General Electoral Tribunal of the Judiciary) to invalidate the results of each of the elections, arguing that the elections were marred by irregularities, including the distribution of "accordions" prior to voting day or the design of the ballots.
The draft resolution, drafted by TEPJF President Mónica Aralí Soto Fregoso, stated that political parties lack the standing to file lawsuits related to the judicial election, as only those who ran for office can challenge the results. Using the same argument, the TEPJF dismissed dozens of lawsuits filed by civil society organizations or citizens.
In fact, six organizations seeking to invalidate the elections want the Supreme Court of Justice of the Nation (SCJN) to resolve matters related to the election of TEPJF magistrates.
