The Colombian company Cielo Travel, which bases its operations on a marketing, technology, and experience platform, seeks to connect brands in the tourism sector with travelers, specifically in the luxury segment.

Its founder and CEO, American Christopher Leamon, who has lived in the country since 2023, invested US$500,000 to create the network that now reaches more than 3.4 million people per month, with its own community of more than 500,000 followers.

According to the company, it achieves an engagement rate of 18.35%. "Customers will not only increase their visibility, but will also experience real revenue growth," the company says. (You might also like: Shallow waters and palm trees all around: Colombia's two hidden beaches .)

Under a B2B model, the company highlights four business lines. One of them relates to technological development for the hospitality industry. In this regard, it announces that it will soon launch a digital solution for hotels, restaurants, and tour operators that includes 24/7 AI-powered chatbots for multilingual customer service, customizable booking software that facilitates multi-currency payments and optimizes the user experience, and CRM and automation tools to improve guest communication, offer automatic upgrades, send personalized recommendations, and much more.

Likewise, it is developing a transactional platform for international travelers, which will allow the end customer (B2C) to book flights, accommodations, activities, transportation, and experiences with confidence and support , all in their language and with international quality standards.

Plans and motivations

In the coming years, Cielo Travel plans to invest between $3 and $5 million to scale its operations in two main areas.

On the one hand, we must continue strengthening technological solutions—such as booking platforms, itinerary automation, and artificial intelligence-powered customer service systems —to optimize the experience for both travelers and service providers.

On the other hand, he says he plans to intervene and improve boutique properties in strategic destinations across the country. The goal is to bring these spaces up to international standards, offering unique, authentic hospitality experiences with world-class service.

These investments will include infrastructure improvements, staff training, and the design and development of integrated experiences.

As part of its value proposition, this company highlights its sustainable approach, achieving a positive impact not only on the environment but also on the social and economic level through responsible tourism.

In fact, Leamon recently invested in LiveHappy, a Colombian startup focused on ecotourism, conservation, and community development that promotes activities in nature reserves, connects travelers with sustainable experiences, and works with local communities on reforestation projects, environmental restoration, and training youth in tourism skills.

"The decision to invest in Colombia stems from a combination of personal experience and strategic analysis. From my first visit as a tourist, I saw that Colombia has it all: natural beauty, cultural diversity, incredible people, and immense tourism potential," the businessman commented.

He added, however, that "I also noticed many missed opportunities in infrastructure, services, and international positioning. Colombia also offers very attractive conditions for tourism development, including government incentives, improved air connectivity, and an increasingly open environment for foreign investment. In addition, there is growing interest from other investors—both domestic and international—who see the country as an emerging destination with a growing tourism market."
