The Madrid Bullfighting Association has filed a complaint with the Government Delegation for authorizing an anti-bullfighting demonstration in Las Ventas on October 12: "It put the safety of fans at serious risk."

The El Toro de Madrid Association sent a letter this Friday to the Government Delegation in the Community of Madrid , with a copy to the Chief of Police of Madrid, in which it expressed its deep concern and firm criticism of the authorization of the anti-bullfighting demonstration held on October 12 on the esplanade of the Las Ventas bullring.
Similarly, it believes that the coincidence of this gathering with the entry of the public to the Hispanic Heritage celebration " put the safety and integrity of the fans at serious risk ," generating "moments of tension and verbal confrontations" between protesters and attendees.
The Association is calling for a re-evaluation of the criteria for authorizing these types of gatherings in the vicinity of the square, especially when they coincide with the entry or exit of the public, in which "prudence and common sense, the foundations of any responsible administrative decision, must prevail."
They also recall that bullfighting is recognized by law as part of Spain's Intangible Cultural Heritage , and that authorities have an obligation to ensure the safety of those who attend bullfighting events.
