Temporary marriages, the proposal to reduce divorces: this is how it would work

Marriage

Taken from Familia Anahuac.mx

They say getting married is a lottery, because 'you never know who you might meet.' And it's no secret that there are as many personalities in the world as there are grains of sand.

Furthermore, although the premise is to get married to be happy, to be together for the rest of your life, and not have to separate in the future, the truth is that - many times - relationships are so complex that people can end up bringing out their cruelest side , and that is how hundreds of love stories end without a happy ending, either because they do not love each other, they do not respect each other, they are not willing to give in, more people come in, among other reasons that can lead to divorce. This is why a project is being put forward in Mexico to initially establish a defined limit for marriages , in order to reduce the current divorce rate in that country.

This is the initiative of Mexican representative Enrique Velázquez González, who proposes temporary marriages, that is, marriages with an expiration date that can vary between five and 10 years.

How long this lasts will depend on the relationship between the two people and whether they truly want to continue the marriage or prefer to let things end within the agreed-upon timeframe, or even sooner. Furthermore, part of the initiative is motivated by avoiding the tedious process that legal divorce entails for a couple, since—currently— it is not enough simply to separate their bodies; it is necessary to resolve the matter before the State.
