Sarmiento Street experienced a special Sunday with the Gastro Marathon

This innovative offering brought together a large crowd at one of the city's most important gastronomic hubs, where they enjoyed a pleasant day sampling a variety of menus.
Neighbors, tourists, and passersby joined the Sarmiento Street Gastro Marathon , an initiative in which local restaurants offered a variety of menu options at affordable prices .
With the support of the City, the merchants of twelve gastronomic establishments on this important artery carried out this innovative proposal, taking advantage of the movement of people generated by the Mendoza International Marathon (MIM) , which had the finish arch a few blocks away, above the gates of General San Martín Park.
Sarmiento Street, between Belgrano and 25 de Mayo (i.e., two blocks) was made pedestrian-friendly so that both marathon runners competing in the MIM and local residents and Mendoza residents in general could reach the space and take advantage of the various options. From flame-grilled meats to pizza and sandwiches were some of the most popular dishes. There were also bars with drinks and cocktails, where wine was the star.
After participating in the MIM, Ulpiano Suarez visited the space, explored the various offerings, and also spoke with merchants. He was accompanied by the Secretary of Economic Development and Tourism, Yamila Meljim, and the Undersecretary of Tourism, Felipe Rinaldo.
"We converted Sarmiento Street between Belgrano and 25 de Mayo streets into a pedestrian zone to combine the best culinary experience with a top-level sporting event like the Mendoza International Marathon. We're sharing with residents and tourists a varied and affordable offering from twelve nationally and internationally renowned restaurants, one of our city's greatest assets for generating investment and employment for thousands of Mendoza residents," stated the mayor.
The Sarmiento Gastro Marathon was the icing on the cake for a long weekend that was very successful in terms of domestic tourism. Felipe Rinaldo noted that "we had projected hotel occupancy of 85% for this weekend, according to the Tourism Observatory. But considering the traffic, we expect it to exceed 90%. It has been a successful weekend; this demonstrates that the city of Mendoza continues to be a popular destination for both Argentine and foreign tourists." Video inserts
