RTO wafers are no longer being delivered in Mendoza: how is their implementation verified?

Users undergoing the Mandatory Technical Inspection (MTI) in Mendoza have stopped receiving the traditional adhesive stickers placed on their windshields after passing the inspection. For several weeks now, MTI workshops across the country have stopped issuing these certificates certifying the vehicle's passing due to a widespread shortage of the material.

Instead, a paper certificate is now issued that includes all vehicle and driver information, allowing for trouble-free travel both within and outside the province.

Speaking to Radio Mitre, Héctor, head of the RTO located in Acceso Norte, explained: "Last week we received a notification from the Executive Unit. Due to the lack of stickers, we needed to issue a certificate so the driver could drive without problems."

Thus, the new document includes a QR code with detailed information about the procedure completed.

"The certificate contains all the vehicle information, including the owner and driver, the insurance policy with its number and expiration date, and the driver's license. It also includes our company information, such as phone number and email address, in case of any eventuality they may encounter on the road," added Héctor.

When asked about the cause of the shortage, he said: "They didn't notify us at the time. We realized it as we were running out of wafers. We had to turn to the Executive Unit for a solution."

The workshops assure that the certificate is completely valid and recognized by traffic authorities throughout the country, so they recommend keeping it and having it on hand in case of any checkpoints.

The values to carry out the review are as follows:

Motorcycles under 300 cc: $11,500

Motorcycles over 300 cc: $21,000

Private cars: $31,000

Trucks: $34,100
