With genres like bachata and music reminiscent of 1990s soap operas, Colombian reggaeton star Karol G pays tribute to popular Latin rhythms with the release of her new album , Tropicoqueta , this Friday.
The 20-song album includes Latin American sounds ranging from merengue to vallenato. It also features romantic and heartbreaking music, typical of the television dramas that shaped the childhood of the 34-year-old artist's generation.

It's an album to " return to the roots, to the songs I grew up listening to, to the sounds that made me fall in love with music ," wrote "Bichota" on Instagram, whose real name is Carolina Giraldo.In the videos that accompany the songs, she appears tanned, with caramel-colored hair and dressed in reddish tones. Her sounds transport us back to the 90s with lyrics that speak of " old-fashioned love " and " slow salsa ," she says. Last year, Karol G established herself as an artist who transcends Latin music, filling stadiums in Spain and the United States . One of them was the Santiago Bernabéu in Madrid, with a capacity of more than 78,000 people. The venue was packed for the four concerts the Colombian performed there.
