José Cueli: Grilla erases duel

Jacques Derrida's rereading of Hegel shows us the political effects that can rehabilitate a way of thinking interested in writing and its traces. Derrida took it on as a political commitment, which is why his analyses touch upon what we call colonialist, racist, sexist, and logocentric philosophy and traces.
In Derrida's case, it is not a different taste for the minutiae of writing, because in any case he would have been only a dandy or a painting with exceptional books; his is the work of a hammer-wielding philosopher who uses the very logocentric discourse in which he was trained to describe the political effects provoked by the metaphors of human life.
At the present time, in the wake of Pope Francis's death, there are virtually no accounts of his death, his life, his passions, and the power he wielded over the Catholic Church, including his time in the Jesuit congregation.
So much so that the process by which the problem is established is a denial of mourning for the Pope's death and his life; that hasn't existed.
The current process is about who's going to win; spiritual values aren't at stake; it's all about who's going to win, to the point where there are betting companies that manage papal candidates. It's a sign of our times that the death of someone important as a Church politician went unnoticed. What matters is who's going to win
, not who has the right talents to exercise the papacy
.
Perhaps that's why, at the end of his life, Derrida was more concerned with his activism in certain social causes than with consolidating his strength in academic circles, which is how philosophy generally works.
Cesáreo Morales recounts that in 1987, during a visit he made to the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters at the National Autonomous University of Mexico, Derrida was a different man. He was no longer the philosopher who in other times was characterized by his suits and solemn gait. He was simply seen wearing worn, creased clothing that showed he was somehow in the battle. At this time, Derrida would be mourning for Francis, not in elegant suits to see who wins
.
