Google offers 15,000 scholarships in Argentina for training in Artificial Intelligence and digital trades.

Google offers 15,000 scholarships in Argentina for training in Artificial Intelligence and digital trades.

The project is being carried out through a partnership with Fundación Compromiso and Potrero Digital. It also presented an innovative course on prompting for AI.

With the goal of bridging the digital divide and preparing people for the jobs of the future, Google announced today the awarding of 15,000 new scholarships in Argentina for its Grow with Google program. The initiative will be implemented in conjunction with Fundación Compromiso through its Potrero Digital program, which promotes inclusion through training in digital trades.

Since its launch in 2022, the program has already benefited more than 37,000 people in the country , providing free access to professional courses in areas such as Data Analysis, Digital Marketing, Cybersecurity, UX Design, IT Support, and Project Management , among others. This year, two training programs focused on artificial intelligence have also been added.

According to data from Randstad and the Manpower Tech Talent Expectations Study, profiles related to AI, data analysis, and automation are among the most in-demand in Argentina, although 62% of IT companies report having difficulty filling these positions.

To address this challenge, Google has launched a new short course, "Fundamentals of Prompting for Generative AI," which teaches how to give precise instructions to artificial intelligence tools. Running under 10 hours and featuring practical exercises, the course provides official certification and aims to facilitate the everyday use of AI for content creation, data analysis, and problem-solving.

This offering is in addition to the popular "Google AI Fundamentals" course, the most popular on Coursera globally in 2024. Both will be available for free on Potrero Digital.

More than 88,000 people in Latin America have already completed Google Professional Certificates, and 70% reported improved job performance within six months of earning their certification. The story of 22-year-old Melisa Benítez Varela illustrates this well: after receiving a Potrero Digital scholarship, she discovered her calling for artificial intelligence and began a career in AI engineering.

“Argentine talent is exceptional, and AI presents us with a historic opportunity to lead a global transformation,” said Víctor Valle, General Manager of Google Argentina. At the launch event held at the Centro Cultural de la Ciencia (Cultural Center of Science), more than 350 young people participated in a hands-on workshop to learn how to use Gemini , Google's AI assistant.

National authorities also participated. The Secretary of Innovation, Science, and Technology of Argentina, Darío Genua, highlighted "the political decision to make Argentina an active player in the AI revolution." For her part, Carolina Biquard , Executive Director of Fundación Compromiso, stated: "Thanks to the collaboration with Google, we can generate real opportunities for inclusion through digital education."

With this initiative, Google deepens its commitment to expanding access to knowledge and building a more equitable future of work.
