David Hekili Kenui, actor from the live action 'Lilo & Stitch', dies

In the last few hours, the death of David Hekili was announced. Kenui Bell , a Hawaiian actor who brought to life the character known as "The Ice Cream Man" in the live adaptation action from the movie “ Lilo & Stitch ”.

The news broke just weeks after her participation in the film premiere, generating various reactions from the public.

The official announcement was made by his sister , Jalene Kanani Bell, through a message on social media in which she reported that the actor passed away last Sunday, June 15.

In her post, Jalene wrote:

"It is with a heavy heart that I share that my sweet, generous, talented, funny, brilliant, and handsome little brother, David HK Bell, will spend today in the company of our Heavenly Father."

He also shared details about their relationship as siblings, as well as recent moments they experienced during the premiere of the movie "Lilo & Stitch" in Kapolei.

"Although I didn't grow up with a father, David gave me all the unconditional love I could ask for and I believe all of his family and friends received the same from him. (...) David loved being an actor, doing voiceovers , spending time with Brutus traveling as an ambassador for Kona Brew (...) was and will continue to be a bright, shining star. He recently hit the big screen with an iconic Lilo & Stitch moment , " he said.

David Hekili Kenui Bell was an actor best known for his recent work in the live-action version of Disney's "Lilo & Stitch." Although his role was brief, his presence left a lasting impression on viewers.

In addition to his film career, David was recognized for his work as the voice of the Kona International Airport PA system , where he was recognized by travelers and residents alike. His voice was a daily fixture at one of the archipelago's most important airports.

However, this wasn't his only work. He also appeared in productions such as "Magnum PI" and the remake of "Hawaii 5-0." He had supporting roles in both series, which, however, consolidated his career as an actor committed to representing his culture on screen.
