Bertín Osborne retires from music: "I'm into recycling."

Bertín Osborne is leaving music. The idea had been on his mind for months, having already expressed it in an interview with ¡Hola! earlier this year, and now he has realized that desire in an interview with Ecuadorian television. Bertín Osborne has dedicated more than four decades to music, in a career that began almost by chance and quickly made him one of the most recognized voices in Spanish-language music.

"I want to do a beautiful tour of the most iconic places where I've sung and... say goodbye," she announced in ¡Hola! , and a few months later she set a date. In 2026, she'll embark on this long tour, which will mark the end of her musical career after 28 albums of ballads and rancheras.

"This profession, which can be very thankless, hasn't been for me, because I tend to recycle myself. 15 years ago, I had a rough patch in music and went to television," he confessed in his interview with Ecuadorian television. Indeed, if Bertín Osborne is an undeniable music star, he's no less a star on the small screen thanks to shows like Genio y Figura , Lluvia de Estrellas , El Show de Bertín , Mi Casa es la Tuya , and Tu Cara Me Sonido , his latest cathode-reel adventure in which he surprises with new impersonations every week.

The last few years haven't been easy for singer Bertín Osborne . Diagnosed with persistent Covid , he suffered frequent pharyngitis and a "horrible" cough that left his chest and throat completely destroyed, as he himself has described it on occasion. With his usual tenacity, he managed to adapt to his new condition and move forward with his life.

"I composed and had fun, but I sang like I played tennis or soccer. It wasn't a crazy hobby. The thing is, once I was singing live with a group of friends at a well-known nightclub in Madrid. A man paid the entrance fee because he lived upstairs, and since we wouldn't let him sleep, he decided to come in and listen to us. He was the president of a record company and offered me a contract. 43 years later, here I am," Bertín Osborne recalled his beginnings in his Ecuadorian interview.

Already in his interview with ¡Hola!, he explained his departure with the fatigue that comes with his age, and revealed that he wanted to focus on his entrepreneurial side: "Music requires a lot of effort, a lot of travel, a lot of focus... and it keeps me away from other things that, right now, are more important to me."

Bertín Osborne 's farewell to music comes days after becoming the ninth Count of Donadío de Casasola , a noble title inherited from his father, Enrique Ortiz y López Valdemoro , who died last October and was also Count of Las Navas. "I preferred the title of Count of Las Navas, but my father, while still alive, asked me to give my permission for him to transfer that title to my sister Chata. And since I understood what my father wanted and I adore my sister María Teresa, I gave that permission," Bertín Osborne explained to the glossy magazine.
