On the morning of October 10, La Red announced the death of renowned Colombian actor and director Carlos Barbosa, who passed away on the evening of Thursday, October 9.

Throughout his career, Barbosa has appeared in soap operas such as "Candó," "El Divino," "La Saga," "Negocio de familia," "Bermúdez y el clon," "Vuelo secreto," and "El Capo," among many others.

Perhaps one of his most memorable roles was that of the manager of the Lunaire travel agency, in which he played Ernesto Suárez Vergara, the manager of the agency, and which made the expression "Terribleeee" popular when referring to complex situations at the company.

What did Carlos Barbosa die of?

The tragic death of the iconic theater, film, and television actor, who also worked as a director, has plunged the world of art and entertainment into mourning. According to his partner, Miriam Bohórquez, in conversations with the program La Red, Carlos Barbosa was facing multiple myeloma, a type of cancer that begins to develop in plasma cells.

The condition caused people to experience bone pain, especially in the back, hips, and skull, fatigue or weakness, frequent infections, thirst and frequent urination, and unexplained weight loss, according to a Mayo Clinic report.

Carlos Barbosa dedicated his life to acting and producing.

Carlos Barbosa, born on January 15, 1944, was an actor from Cali with an outstanding career in Colombian theater, television and cinema .

Although his initial academic training was in Architecture , a degree he studied at the Universidad del Valle, in Cali , since his university years he showed a strong inclination towards the performing arts.

His passion for the stage led him to join the National Theater Company of Colombia, with which he toured, culminating in Costa Rica. Upon returning to Colombia, he settled in Bogotá, where he joined the renowned Teatro Popular de Bogotá (TPB), one of the most influential theater groups in the country. There, he shared the stage and performed alongside figures such as Fanny Mikey, Jorge Alí Triana, and Luis Alberto García , among other prominent artists and directors.

Later, as part of the TPB's legacy, an acting training school was created, offering acting workshops. This school was instrumental in developing new talent, many of whom are now active in the Colombian audiovisual industry.

Carlos Barbosa has not only witnessed the evolution of theater in Colombia, but has also been a protagonist and educator of new generations of artists.
