'Teatreros' is looking for the best original amateur theater script in Catalonia in 2025.

Catalonia has a long tradition of amateur theater, an activity that boasts hundreds of companies that bring together thousands of amateurs and professionals who offer numerous performances each year. This tradition is alive and well and generates a wide range of cultural offerings locally.
Aware of the importance of this hobby and with the aim of recognizing the voluntary and quality work of groups of actors, directors, playwrights, and all personnel linked to the theater scene, La Vanguardia is promoting the award for the best original amateur theater script in Catalonia for 2025. Under the name "Teatreros," the initiative is supported by the Federation of Amateur Theater Groups of Catalonia (FGATC) and has the collaboration of Reale Seguros.
Who can participate in "Teatreros"? All amateur theater plays with an original script premiered during 2025 in any theater in Catalonia. Participants can send their scripts to [email protected] before October 6, 2025, indicating the author's details, a contact phone number or email address, the theater company, and the venues where the play has been performed. Scripts may also be accompanied by promotional videos or teasers for the plays submitted for the award.

A jury composed of members of the FGATC and specialized journalists from La Vanguardi will select three finalists from the submitted scripts, and readers of the newspaper will be able to vote for their favorite. At the end of November, on a date yet to be determined, the winner will be announced, and a ceremony will be held to award the best original amateur theater script in Catalonia.
The president of the FGATC, Antoni Font, expressed enthusiasm for this initiative by La Vanguardia, which recognizes the work of a sector that brings together more than 10,000 people and has more than 300 amateur theater groups in Catalonia whose performances attract one and a half million spectators annually. The organization, presided over by Font, celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and was awarded the Creu de Sant Jordi in 2010.
For his part, the director of La Vanguardia , Jordi Juan, believes that amateur theater is part of the cultural soul of Catalan society and giving it visibility is an act of justice to an activity that has been and continues to be a school for professionals in the theater scene.
Finally, from Reale Seguros, Jordi Rosich, regional director for Catalonia and the Balearic Islands, affirms that support for this initiative is part of the essence of a company that supports the region through mediation, and that is aware of the importance of popular culture and wants to help promote it so that it endures over time.
