The weekend's exhibitions, including Klee, Chagall, and Picasso

(by Marzia Apice) Illustrious masters such as Klee, Chagall and Picasso, alongside contemporary Cerith Wyn Evans, until the rediscovery of Concetta Baldassarre: these are some of the exhibitions on the first weekend of August. DOMODOSSOLA - It is entitled "Beyond the boundaries of reality. Between Klee, Chagall and Picasso" the exhibition hosted from August 1st to 11th January at the 'Gian Giacomo Galletti' Civic Museums, conceived and curated by Antonio D'Amico with the collaboration of Stefano Papetti and Federico Troletti. The project explores the years between the two wars up to the Sixties, through a core of paintings and unpublished works of applied art that aim to break the rules imposed by rationality to rediscover a dimension spiritual and liberating compared to what is visible and tangible. On display are artists of the caliber of Pablo Picasso, Osvaldo Licini, Fausto Melotti, Paul Klee, Marc Chagall and Gastone Novelli. BOSCOREALE (NA) - Visits are open until January 11th Cerith Wyn Evans' solo exhibition at the Boscoreale Antiquarium entitled "Pompeii Threnody", edited by Andrea Viliani with Stella Bottai, Laura Mariano, and Caterina Avataneo. First exhibition site-specific Pompeii Commitment Materie program archaeological specifically designed for the Antiquarium of Boscoreale and Villa Regina, the exhibition in 12 works explores the memory, time and transformation, central elements in the work of the Welsh artist, proposing an unconscious dialogue and involuntary "with whom and with what, ultimately, continues to living in Pompeii", recalling its enduring vitality memory. SAN LUCIDO (CS) - From August 1st to October 12th the Photography Festival returns Calabria Festival, now in its fourth edition and directed by Anna Catalano. 16 exhibitions are scheduled, developed around on the theme "Common Roots: Places". Among these is the project "It Was Once My Universe", in which Marie Tomanova tells the story of the return in his homeland, in the Czech Republic, after years of living in the United States, shaping a dialogue between what has been and what one has become; "Cast Out of Heaven" in which Hashem Shakeri shows the satellite cities that have sprung up on the outskirts of Tehran, symbols of isolation and broken promises, and the group exhibition with Paul Gambin's projects "(Speak to Me of Love)", which mixes landscape, sound and personal iconography in a narrative emotional and layered, by Jung Ui Lee, who in "Urban Tattoo - This is Beautiful" transforms the visual chaos of signs Korean commercials as signs of collective memory and resilience urban, and by Ciro Battiloro, who with "Silence Is A Gift" tells the story of family and community dynamics in neighborhoods popular in Southern Italy. TAGLIACOZZO - The Orsini Colonna Ducal Palace hosts the the 12th edition of Contemporanea directed by Emanuele Moretti and curated by Cesare Biasini Selvaggi. Two artists chosen for this edition, Concetta Baldassarre with the retrospective "The unveiled portrait of a life in art", the first dedicated to the artist after his death, and Annu Palakunnathu Matthew with the solo exhibition entitled "Stories hidden. The Italians of Abruzzo and the Indian soldiers in the Second World War", edited with Maria Teresa Capacchione. In the first exhibition about 60 works including paintings, drawings, reconstruct the life and work of Baldassare, extraordinary artist of the second half of the twentieth century, a student of Toti Scialoja. In the second place goes to Anglo-Indian artist and photographer Annu Palakunnathu Matthew presents an installation that allows the viewer to take a journey to discover a little-known story known of Abruzzo during the war: that of the soldiers Indians who, after fighting alongside the English on various fronts, were interned in a prison camp in Avezzano.
