Cala Comte, where the Ibizan sea fades into an unforgettable sunset.

Cala Comte, where the Ibizan sea fades into an unforgettable sunset.

There are places that seem painted with light, and Cala Comte (also known as Cala Conta or Platges de Comte ) is one of them: along the western coast of Ibiza , just beyond Cala Bassa, it is one of the island's brightest treasures, famous for its transparent waters and sunsets that set the horizon ablaze with ever-changing hues.

It's a natural mosaic of small coves , each with its own unique characteristics. The landscape, sculpted by wind and time, alternates golden sand , rock formations, and scenic overlooks offering unique views. And while its beauty is wild and authentic, the hospitality is no less impressive: the area is equipped with bars and restaurants that blend seamlessly into the landscape, enhancing its harmony rather than detracting from it.

The beach, approximately 800 meters long and up to 30 meters wide, is divided into three main areas : the two larger beaches are separated by a strip of sand that comes alive in the evening with DJs, while the third, more intimate and private, beach is reached via steps carved into the rock and is often chosen by naturists . The shallow, clear waters make Cala Comte perfect for children, while the suddenly sloping seabed offers spectacular colors and ideal areas for swimming or snorkeling.

What to see and do in Cala Comte

At Cala Comte, the sea isn't the only attraction. It's the way nature blends with the landscape, the light, the silence, and the details that make the difference.

Rock formations and viewpoints

The rocks that embrace the coves form a sculptural landscape , waiting to be explored step by step. The paths that climb the cliffs allow you to escape the busy beach area and discover hidden corners, perfect for enjoying the view and the tranquility: they are perfect spots for those who love photography or want to be amazed by the golden light that envelops everything at sunset.

As the sun begins to set toward the sea, Cala Comte is transformed: the colors of the water change, the sky turns pink, orange, and purple, and the horizon comes alive with the silhouettes of the islands on the horizon.

The beaches of Cala Comte

As mentioned, each cove in Cala Comte has its own soul. The main beach is perfect for those who love fine sand and comfortable amenities , with loungers, umbrellas, and a bar nearby. But just a few minutes' walk away are small coves nestled between the rocks, where a more intimate calm reigns. The water, everywhere, is crystal clear: on calm days, it feels like a natural pool , while when the sea is a little rough, the play of the waves creates almost hypnotic reflections.

The sea's depth changes rapidly, creating a spectacular visual effect, with layers of turquoise, emerald green, and deep blue merging and chasing each other. It's a beach for everyone : families with children, couples seeking tranquility, and solo travelers who want to lose themselves in a destination that speaks only the language of the sea.

Snorkeling area and boat tour

The clear and clean waters of Cala Comte are an irresistible invitation to snorkeling . Schools of colorful fish swim among the exposed rocks and sculpted seabed, while the underwater play of light creates an enchanting atmosphere.

This beach, among the most beautiful in Spain , can also be discovered from the sea. Boat tours along Ibiza's west coast often stop here, offering a different (and equally spectacular) perspective on this wonder: seeing it suddenly appear, between the rocks and the sparkling water, is an unforgettable experience.

Where it is and how to get there

Cala Comte is located on the western tip of Ibiza , directly opposite the small Isla Sa Conillera. The beach is easily accessible by car : from San Antonio, one of the island's most popular towns, it takes about 10-15 minutes. Those coming from Ibiza should plan on about a half-hour drive, following the EI-700 road to Sant Agustí des Vedrà and then continuing along the PM-803 towards the sea.

The final stretch of road already boasts magnificent views, and arriving at the beach just before sunset is an experience not to be missed. The parking lot can get crowded during high season: it's best to arrive a little early to enjoy every moment without stress.
