Media, Washington Post to Use AI for Opinion Articles

The Washington Post would be developing a platform to enable non-writers professionals to send opinion pieces, taking advantage artificial intelligence. A report from the New York Times states Times, according to which the project, called Ripple, would be part of a broader initiative aimed at opening the newspaper to external content, including that of other publications. The generative AI assistant is Ember, a "coach capable of automate some operations during writing" says the report, which continues "human editors will still review articles before publication". The dedicated section The Washington Post's views have changed a lot in recent years months. Shortly before the US elections in November, the owner Jeff Bezos decided that the newspaper would not more supported a presidential candidate, blocking support to Kamala Harris. As a result, top reporters and various journalists have left the newspaper. In January of this year, 4% of the sector's employees have been laid off commercial. According to the Times' sources, Ripple is the result of a research and development process started more than a year ago. Ember should accompany the writer along the writing path and submission of contributions. The tool would include an indicator of "story strength", a sidebar that illustrates the fundamental elements of narrative structure and a series of real-time suggestions. Rival sites, such as Forbes and Huffington Post, have launched similar projects to engage users, bringing back a substantial growth in online visitors.
