EU, Apple and Meta changes under consideration to avoid new fines

The European Commission "is "evaluating" the changes announced by Meta and Apple following the fines imposed in April by Brussels which found some violations of the Digital Markets Act (DMA). "We are planning next steps, but our teams are still evaluating the work and we will return to the subject when they are "finalized" explained the vice president of the Commission European Henna Virkkunen at a press conference in Brussels. The EU executive has fined Apple 500 million euros and Meta for 200 million for violating the DMA. In the crosshairs of the EU, there is on the one hand the management policy of the App Apple Store and on the other hand the "pay or "Meta consent to pay and avoid advertising or not pay and allow the use of their data, neither of which comply with the Dma. The two tech giants had until June 26 to comply with the obligations prescribed in the DMA to avoid new sanctions.
