The Tribute to Carla Fracci at the Teatro alla Scala
An unmissable event for international dance. The Teatro alla Scala tomorrow at 8 pm with Gala Fracci pays homage to the Milanese ballerina who has become a legend in the world.
The great repertoire will be celebrated with Petipa's Sleeping Beauty, starring Marianela Nuñez in the Adagio della rosa from the first act; with Nureyev's Don Quixote in the grand pas de deux from the third act with Alice Mariani and Nicola Del Freo, bridesmaid Maria Celeste Losa and the artists of the corps de ballet; and with the lyrical pas de deux from the second act of Giselle performed by Martina Arduino and Marco Agostino, a reminder of the extraordinary, last presence at La Scala of Carla Fracci and the masterclasses; the first part closes with Ronald Hynd's Merry Widow , a guest of the Scala ballrooms to follow the rehearsals of the soloists and the corps de ballet, in the pas de deux again Marianela Nuñez and Reece Clarke in the roles of Hanna Glawari and Danilo; opening the second will be John Cranko, a master of the 20th century, with his masterpieces including Onegin with Nicoletta Manni, star and Reece Clarke. Cranko's bond with Fracci also means Romeo and Juliet, created for her as a very young dancer in 1958. The pas de deux on the balcony will see for the first time Claudio Coviello's Romeo with Romina Contreras. From the ballet La strada by Pistoni the pas de deux, reprised by his nephew Guido Pistoni, with Antonella Albano and Christian Fagetti.
The closing of the program is entrusted to the “grand ball” of Italian tradition: Excelsior, triumph of Light and Civilization over Obscurantism with Nicoletta Manni Timofej Andrijashenko Soloists and Ballet Corps of La Scala Students of the Academy's Ballet School.
For the Gala Tracci , a new installation will be inaugurated in Piazza Scala at 7 pm - born from the collaboration between Fondazione Teatro alla Scala and Fondazione Banco dell'energia - established in 2016 by A2A, the founder and supporter of the Theater. “Art Is” is a collective work that involves contemporary artists from around the world, the project is by Angelo Bonello. In a baroque setting, a visual composition made up of hundreds of video interviews, in which each artist reveals his idea of art. The installation is 7 meters by 6 meters and is made up of about a hundred video interviews: it will be visible until May 25.
