Plautus captivates audiences with Solfrizzi. And on Saturday, it's Aristophanes' turn.
A masterful performance, a comic plot spanning the centuries, and an audience enthralled with laughter and reflection. Plautus's "Amphitryon" enchanted the Teatro dell'Efebo last night, thanks to the intense and brilliant performance of Emilio Solfrizzi , who also directed the show. With his charisma, Solfrizzi successfully blended the archaic language of Latin comedy with contemporary insights, making the play on misunderstandings that animates Plautus's celebrated work still highly relevant.
He is joined by a top-notch cast : Giancarlo Ratti, Ivano Falco, Viviana Altieri, Cristiano Dessì, Beatrice Coppolino, and Rosario Coppolino, in a production meticulously crafted with sets by Fabiana Di Marco and costumes by Alessandra Benaduce . A success with audiences and critics alike, it confirms the value of Efebo's summer theater offerings.
And on Saturday, August 2, again at 9 pm, the series continues with Aristophanes' "The Knights," directed and adapted by Cinzia Maccagnano , already acclaimed for her powerful reinterpretations of the tragedies "Antigone" and "Seven Against Thebes." This time, the Greek author makes room for political satire, in a text that—despite being written 2,500 years ago— resonates with disturbing relevance , denouncing the deception of propaganda and the manipulation of peoples .
On stage, in addition to Cinzia Maccagnano herself, also Luna Marongiu, Raffaele Gangale, Cristina Putignano, Marta Cirello, Andrea Maiorca and Maria Chiara Pellitteri , in a show that combines words, gestures and scenic vision, embellished by Luna Marongiu's masks and puppets , the original music by Lucrezio De Seta , the costumes by Monica Mancini and the sets designed by Linda Passi .
